Original by Shun'e, a younger son of Toshiyori (#74) and a monk; his lay name seems to have gone unrecorded. Written in the persona of a woman waiting for her lover to visit, making the "things" thought about again the other person. "Shows" is another omitted-but-understood word. The "gap" (hima, which can also mean "free time") is understood to be in her shutters. Some modern editions have akeyarade, giving the reading "it does not yet dawn, and (the gap) ... " instead of "(the gap) where it is not yet dawn ... "yomosugara
