Deer Grove, Wang Wei (Tang Shi #224)
Friday, 17 May 2019 15:59Empty mountain, I don’t see anyone
But hear the sound of someone’s voice.
Returning brightness enters the deep forest,
Reflected up from the green moss.
A stab at a poem many, many have translated (heck, even my mother has). Lots of guessing based on my shaky modern Mandarin -- for I am ass at classical Chinese -- and I have only a vague clue how to understand 返景. But there you have it. Original:
鹿柴
空山不见人,
但闻人语响。
返景入深林,
复照青苔上。
