swan_tower: myself in costume as the Norse goddess Hel (Hel)
From: [personal profile] swan_tower
She exchanges her fine silk gown,
She washes off her white face-powder:
She spurs her horse to the army tents,
With fervent sighs, takes sword in hand.

Mulan has kilted her silk kirtle
a little aboon her knee,
and she has broded her ink-black hair
a little aboon her bree,
and she's awa to the army front
as fast as she can hie.

. . . if I wind up writing a Mulan/Tam Lin mashup someday, I'm blaming you.
If you don't have an account you can create one now.

About

Warning: contents contain line-breaks.

As language practice, I like to translate poetry. My current project is Chinese, with practice focused on Tang Dynasty poetry. Previously this was classical Japanese, most recently working through the Kokinshu anthology (archived here). Suggestions, corrections, and questions always welcome.

There's also original pomes in the journal archives.
