Original by Minamoto no Hitoshi. The comparison is not explicit, but that seems the best way to handle these sorts of otherwise tangential prefatory lines. The name of the bamboo shino echoes the start of shinoburedo ("yearned in secret, but"). I hope one day to rewrite the final couplet into something that resembles what we call "poetry".asajiu no
