Another time—
then, you’ll agree,
I’ll make it rhyme.

It’s not a crime
to let it be
another time

to get the chime
off ringingly.
I’ll make it rhyme,

a paradigm
where some sounds see
each other. Time

will age sublime
what, easily,
I will make rhyme,

I’m sure—no grime,
slime, grit, debris.
Another time,
I’ll make it rhyme.

Known privately as "the narrow villanelle." Attempts to write an even skinnier one, in monometer, have failed like failing things from Skipallclassestan.

About

Warning: contents contain line-breaks.

As language practice, I like to translate poetry. My current project is Chinese, with practice focused on Tang Dynasty poetry. Previously this was classical Japanese, most recently working through the Kokinshu anthology (archived here). Suggestions, corrections, and questions always welcome.

There's also original pomes in the journal archives.
