Culture more ignored now.

—17 April 2002

An experiment (okay, finger exercise) in drottkvaett, an Icelandic form with accentual meter and a complicated pattern of alliteration and assonance. This is the only one I've written that comes close to successful, and that's if you're charitable about the last line (I was trying to say "culture that's ignored now," but was precluded by the form).

About

Warning: contents contain line-breaks.

As language practice, I like to translate poetry. My current project is Chinese, with practice focused on Tang Dynasty poetry. Previously this was classical Japanese, most recently working through the Kokinshu anthology (archived here). Suggestions, corrections, and questions always welcome.

There's also original pomes in the journal archives.
