A small girl runs by,
her pockets bulged out with lumps
the size of acorns.

*Love*

I remember my son with his pockets stuffed. I remember him and his pals collecting HUGE amounts of acorns to have acorn wars.

Lovely ku.

That was their intention. We parents asked them to cease and desist. So then they had to empty their ordinance in the woods. Huge piles. The squirrels must have been beside themselves.

About

Warning: contents contain line-breaks.

As language practice, I like to translate poetry. My current project is Chinese, with practice focused on Tang Dynasty poetry. Previously this was classical Japanese, most recently working through the Kokinshu anthology (archived here). Suggestions, corrections, and questions always welcome.

There's also original pomes in the journal archives.
