The Spell

Scramble down the well
to find the little bell
    amid the scree.

Lure away the rook
and get the little book
    from the oak tree.

From the giant’s mantle
take the little candle
    then quickly flee.

Candle, book, and bell
will break the witch’s spell
    and set me free.

Probably it was writing a ribald version about the contest between the Muses and Pierides cast as a cheerleading competition, with the Muses as the villains. Muses do not like being made light of.
