Original author unknown. In the alternate version, "places" is kind of awkward, but I'm failing to find any better; "valleys" has the right sound, but sets up a contrast with "mountains" not in the original, for all that neighboring poems (such as #53 and #59) support the location. The classical adjectival ending -mi indicates the quality (height or alternately distance) is a cause of what follows (that no one is admiring the cherry).yama takami
