Written as a poem of spring.
Why on earth do you
conceal Mt. Miwa like that,
O springtime haze?
Flowers we don't know about
are probably blooming there.ripped off from quoting Man'yoshu I:18, where it's clouds who conceal the mountain. It's hard to read the unmarked spring haze as anything but a direct address. "There" is interpolation for rhythm and clarity.

shika mo kakusu ka
harugasumi
hito ni shirarenu
hana ya sakuramu
