Hyakunin Isshu #12
Monday, 19 April 2010 07:40 Oh winds of heaven,
blow closed the passage that leads
into the clouds!
I would detain for a while
these divine maidenly shapes.

Original by Henjo, father of Sosei (#21), written before taking orders when he was a courtier named Yoshimine no Munesada. The maidens are Gosechi dancers, aristocratic girls portraying heavenly women (ten'nyo, not explicitly named) at the court's harvest festival; as such, he is indirectly flattering his emperor as much as he is, more directly, the dancers.amatsukaze
